Westmont Cancels Classes Due to Thomas Fire
By
Westmont
President Gayle D. Beebe announced at an open forum on Dec. 7 that Westmont has canceled classes through Friday due to poor air quality in Santa Barbara stemming from the Thomas Fire in Ventura County. The college expects final exams to take place as scheduled beginning Tuesday, Dec. 12. Professors may decide to reschedule their Friday, Dec. 8, classes for Monday, Dec. 11. If so, they will directly notify the students in their classes. The campus will remain open, and staff will continue to work and services will remain available to students. Faculty and staff whose homes are threatened by the fire and in an evacuation zone may leave to pack and be with their family after they notify their supervisors. Staff members with questions can contact Human Resources.
