More than 100 students will be participating in more than three dozen pieces at the annual Westmont Fringe Festival, “The Cosmos,” April 11-14 in and around Westmont’s Porter Theatre and at the Community Arts Workshop, 631 Garden Street. Festival passes ($15 general admission, $10 students/seniors) or daily tickets ($10 general admission, $7 student/seniors) are available online at www.westmont.edu/boxoffice. For more information, please call (805) 565-7040.
The Fringe, which has steadily grown since the Westmont Theater Arts Department created it in 2005, is a smorgasbord of plays, dances, films, poetry and art installations. “We also have a pod of staged readings of plays and poetry written by the Writing for Performance class, and a senior project by Sean McElrath,” says Hunter Stilwell, Fringe artistic co-director.
“I am most excited to see original work by the students,” says artistic co-director Alyssa Walsh. “It’s always fun to see students in various departments come together to make art. As a theatre major, I love getting the opportunity to work with students outside the department, and seeing everyone come together to create this amazing, fun weekend.”
