Westmont’s talented student musicians and composers will be in the spotlight at the Student Composer's Concert on Friday, Nov. 13, beginning at 7 p.m. westmont.edu/virtual-concert-series.
“There will be a spectacular array of new pieces by composition students at Westmont,” says Steve Butler, professor of music and an ASCAP award-winning composer.
Current students participating include Ben Gillmer, Jared Clarke, Hailey Hoang, Lydia Lubben, Nathan Carlin and Gabriel Rojas. Alumna Sarah Hooker '20 has created a piece that will be performed by the Westmont Chamber Singers. Alumnus Paul Wuest '20, who graduated with a degree in English and music, will have a piece with multiple keyboard instruments, including celesta, marimba, organ and harpsichord.
