Renowned Violinist Performs Recital

Niv Ashkenazi, world-renowned violinist, will perform on Friday, Oct. 13, at 3 p.m. in a masterclass at the music department rehearsal room followed by a performance at 5 p.m. in Westmont’s Deane Chapel. The recital will feature Ashkenazi performing solo violin works by Johann Sebastian Bach and Nathan Milstein. He will also be joined by bassoonist Leah Kohn to perform one of his own arrangements for their duo, Dyad.
Ashkenazi has traveled and performed around the world, including the Middle East, Europe and the United States. He has won a multitude of awards including the 2010 American Protégé International Piano and Strings Competition and the 2007 VSA International Young Soloist Award.
Dyad originally met while studying at Juilliard, and has performed on concert series around Southern California as well as on the East Coast. They perform a combination of traditional repertoire, new works commissioned for them, and their own arrangements.
