About a dozen musicians take the stage for the fall 2017 Westmont Faculty Recital Friday, Sept. 15, at 7 p.m. in Deane Chapel. The concert is free and open to the public. For more information, please contact the music department at (805) 565-6040.
The recital will feature performances by Michael Shasberger (baritone), Jeong-ah Ryu (piano), Emil Cristescu (bass/baritone), Robert Rockabrand (tenor), Neil Di Maggio (piano), Andrea Di Maggio (flute/alto flute), Laura Walter (flute/alto flute), Joanne Kim (clarinet), John Mason (French horn), Han Soo Kim (violin) and Steve Hodson (organ).
“Westmont is blessed to have incredibly talented music faculty and it’s exciting to see them perform in concert,” says Shasberger, Adams professor of music and worship. “Many of our student musicians have only seen the faculty in their teaching roles, so it’s a real pleasure for them to watch their teachers perform for the community.”
The faculty will perform pieces composed by Henry Purcell, George Enesco, Jacopo Peri, C. W. Von Gluck, Adam Guettel, Francine Tremblot de la Croix, Carl Reinecke, Dmitri Shostakovich, Philippe Gaubert and Dudley Buck.
